Hello Everyone! I'm a new guy.....I never was on the old forum, seemed too daunting to try and catch up on everything....but since you've got a new one, I'm all in.
My name is Raider-X. I've been an x-men fan since I was 5....going on 30 now, so it's been quite a while. I got out of comics right when AoA started. Why do you ask? Well, to be completely frickin honest....I come from a small town...less a than a thousand people. I was the only person who read comics. I didn't have any info on comics...I just liked the x-men. I went to the store one day....our local soda shop at my old town....took a look at the spinner rack, and saw all of this Age of Apocalypse stuff....I bought one issue....didn't have a freaking clue what the deal was....so I hung it up for good that day. I thought they were doing AOA permanently and that my old Blue Team that I loved so much was never coming back... To be honest, I think I was too young to even understand what the hell was going on at that time in x-history...it was all so bizarre to me at the time. I remember being really pissed off that blue team was cancelled....or so I thought....lol. Just this January I finally figured out what AOA was... I've taken the Rob approach to grabbing what I've missed and am diligently trying to play catch up. I'm listening to your episodes at work as I've been reading the comics in order....but I'm only up to Episode 43 maybe. So...in like a year, after I actually read all the x men and listen to the shows, maybe at that point I'll catch up with the rest of you guys.
So what brought me back? I've always been a huge marvel video game guy....since i didn't want buy comics anymore. I've been playing marvel vs capcom 2 since it came out in 2000 or so and ultimate marvel vs capcom 3 since it came out. Magneto was always my guy in the games, and I started wanting to know more about the actual character himself. So, I went back home and dug out some old comics from my mom's house....brough 'em home, and threw em in the basement. 3 days later my sump pump backed up, and it completely ruined my comics. I got some money for christmas this year out of the blue from my folks, so I decided .... SCREW IT!! I'm gonna buy the entire blue team run on ebay.....and thats exactly what I did. This is the only series I think I'll collect....ones good for me. I figure it's near impossible to get a full uncanny run---and this one I can complete as it the issues come out....even if its not the good ol blue team anymore. So thats my comeback story.....then I'm at work one day....and I'm always listening to fighting game podcasts....i thought to myself....hmmm....comic podcasts?? I went to marvel...listed to theirs.....it was ok, but to spread out for me to listen.....I just don't care about anyone else really but the good ol boys of xavier. So i searched for x men podcast and low and behold I found the Uncanny X Cast.....bout 3 months ago now. Good stuff guys....I listen slow as I want to keep up with the retro reviews. I like your guys humor---some funny stuff on there---keep it up.
Anyways----I wanted to introduce myself and give you a little info on my comic point of view. My collection consists of x men Volume 2, Unlimited, Wolverine Vol.1, and Uncanny. My most valuable issue is probably Wolverine #1 from the series from 88===I really have no idea whats worth anything.....since I re-purchased the blue team series....I was extremely suprised that I picked up the entire run at more or less under a dollar an issue.....around 300 or so all together with shipping.
Ok---Nice meeting everyone, and talk at ya down the road strangers!
