I gave Avengers vs. X-Men #1 a try and I liked it. I was just a set up issue but overall I enjoyed reading it. JRJR's art was sloppy in some of the panels but not bad enough that it distracted me from the book. Last thing, I think Cyclops is in the wrong and is being a tool.

I haven't read either one yet, Recording New Comic Book Podcast and sick with stomach virus, but there was #0 issue too so maybe that helps get things setup a little better?

I'm going to be reading AvX #0 & #1 tonight. I shall return once I'm done with those.

I did order Fanboys vs. Zombies. Looking forward to reading that book when it comes. Should be a lot of fun.

Okay, Avenger boy, Cap came in and he stated that he wasn't asking for Hope to come with them. This is why Cyclops fired first (ala Han Solo). It's not like Cap came in waiving an olive branch for peace. He came in to get Hope. He just did it in an insult to Cyclop's intelligence that he could get Cyclops to just hand her over, but he knew one way or another they were taking her.

It's not like Cap is giving Hope any choice either. He's not coming in with Hope's best interest either. Cyclops view for Hope is that sometimes you don't get a choice of whatis going to happen and all you can do is prepare for the inevitable. For that matter we don't even know what Cap's plan is. Get Hope...that's about as far as his plan has gone so far.

And yes, Wolverine was consulted, but that's another bonehead move...let's consult with the guy who has the biggest chip on his shoulder against Scott. I didn't see Wolverine joining Cap or providing any advice on what Cap needs to do. He basically just said that what is coming is bad news.

I went into this with a total open mind because I like both teams a lot, and I like Cap and Cyclops a ton. But To me this is the Avengers overstepping their limits and being dicks. The X-Men have experience also in the world and universe saving business. Maybe, as I mentioned before, come in saying "you guys have experience with this, so what can we do to help stop this from coming." Then if Cyclops had been jerky or said "nothing" and blasted Cap. Then I would side with Cap and the Avengers.

It would be like you coming into my house and saying "you know, your kid has the potential to be a pyromaniac and burn a lot of homes that people live in, so I'm going to take him with my family." But you have no experience with dealing with psychological issues of pyromania. You just think you know better. I would tell you to get the hell out of my house. You are not taking my child.

I definitely see your point in them both not acting as much in character with past iterations of them. I think it would have been better for Cyke to ask what Cap's plan was before blasting him away.

I would say that both teams have almost equal experience with world ending events and saving the day...which is probably why this event is happening...who can handle this better? Right now I would say neither.

I think the pressure of Cyclops is definitely bringing him to a snapping point, if he is not there already, and I would not be shocked if he ended up as an enemy to both groups by the end...or at some time in the future after this event. Even Magneto noticed the words Scott is starting to use.

I kinda get Cyclops' view with the Scarlet Witch. It would be hard to let go the person who was responsible for so much death (which many did die when they lost their powers and many more were killed after losing their powers) and bringing this species to the point of extinction. It would be almost like (but I know far from an exact comparison) trying to understand Hitler and what he did instead of just blowing his head off.
