On the collected editions for the two books--Batman will be 1-7, like you said, but B&R will be 1-8.

B&R #7 -- The fight between Bruce and Nobody was brutally awesome, but a lot of the dialogue was kinda terrible, especially Damian's "forgive me, father, for I have sinned" thing. Plus, that whole ending felt kinda hallow since we've already seen this idea already done in Batman Incorporated: Leviathan Strikes.

Not only did Damian kill the Spook at the beginning of Morrison's run, but he did use swords and a bow and arrow to take out limbs of the 99 Fiends during "Batman & Robin Must Die," and I have to assume some of them didn't survive.

"Will they play more with the multiple universes?" We keep hearing that Morrison's going to do a sort-of event called "Multiversity," where every issue takes place on a different alternate world.

Batman #7...I'm a little conflicted. On one hand, it was an interesting issue--did some interesting world-building in showing how the Talons worked, had an interesting revalation, even a potentially interesting new character. But...it seems rather coincidential that Bruce was able to knock out the EXACT tooth that had the Talon coin out of Dick's mouth, it had it's characters tell their motivations instead of actually talking like regular people, and the scene with the owl taking out the bat from Year One had this mild smell of desperation about trying to make this story matter.

My thing is--this was a solid enough comic, but I fear that the book is going to become a victim of it's own hype.

"Fairbanks" is a reference to Douglas Fairbanks, he played the lead in 1920 version of The Mark of Zorro, which in Year One was said to be the film that Bruce watched with his parents the night they were killed.

As for why the Court is after Batman now...they really weren't at first. The way I look at it is this: in Batman #1, they showed that Bruce intends to change the city--tear down the old and crime-ridden to replace with a new, safer place. This would upset the natural order of things that the Court wants, so it sends a Talon to kill Bruce, and it's only when Batman start's snooping around that he finally becomes "worthy" of the Owls' attention. That's also why they want to take out Wayne Manor--to finish the job they started.

Eh...I called Dick being connected to the Talons the second that Dick was pegged as a suspect. It also doesn't help that Snyder's been flat out saying that there's a connection since issue 1.

Good episode--but if I may make one little criticism? I think it would help the podcast a bit if when doing the synopsis you could get a little more concise and summerize things a bit more. I mean, you guys basically read the entirety of Batman #7 out in the podcast, and felt a little excessive.
