Let's talk movie music!!

I'll start with what's currently on my mp3 player --

Gun by Christopher Lennertz (Okay, okay -- it's NOT movie music, it's a video game. But it's still AWESOME!! And Lennertz IS a film composer!)

Live Free or Die Hard by Marco Beltrami (Not near as good as any of Michael Kamen's Die Hard scores, but it's growing on me)

Spider-Man 2 (Complete, 2 Disc) by Danny Elfman and Christopher Young

Spider-Man 3 (Expanded, 2 Disc) by Christopher Young (My God, this is an AWESOME score!)

Star Trek (The Deluxe Edition) by Michael Giacchino (I JUST got this and have only listened to a tiny portion of it, but so far... aaaaaah, it's sooooo good!!)

Star Trek - Insurrection (Expanded) by Jerry Goldsmith (This needs an official complete release)

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khaaaaaaan (FSM, 2 Disc) by James Horner

Star Trek III: The Search For Spock (FSM, 2 Disc) by James Horner (is it a fair criticism to say that I'm severely let down by this release because I have owned the bootleg for years and this is really only a cleaned up version of that?)

Star Wars - Episode III - Revenge of the Sith [3 Disc Extended Edition] - John Williams

Star Wars - A New Hope (Complete Remastered Score, 3 Disc) - John Williams

Star Wars - The Empire Strikes Back (Complete Remastered Score, 3 Disc) - John Williams

Star Wars - Return Of The Jedi (Complete Remastered Score, 3 Disc) - John Williams (there are now 3 disc editions for all 6 of the live-action Star Wars films and, if you have the means, I HIGHLY recommend them!)

Thirteen Days (2 Disc) - Trevor Jones

Raiders Of The Lost Ark/Indiana Jones And The Temple of Doom - John Williams (I listened to these over and over and over and over as a kid because my father would play them in the car whenever we went for a drive! I knew the lyrics to "Anything Goes" before I ever saw the show!)

The Lost World: Jurassic Park - John Williams (under-rated soundtrack with some great jungle action style themes)

Kull The Conqueror - Joel Goldsmith (hard rock sword and sorcery)

Ok i have a lot on my Ipod, so here are a few.
All Spiderman apart from 3 (Which I can't find anywhere, and I'm talking the score not the rubbish soundtrack)
All Star Wars.
Punisher - Carlo Siitico
Incredible hulk - Craig Armstrong
Departed - Howard Shore
Not a movie but wow its a good score Call of duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Hans Zimmer

I haven't yet seen Punisher War Zone, but have listened to the soundtrack thinking it was the original score. And I just want to rant a bit here and say. The film soundtrack full of those shitty pop sounds is not the same as a score. I know people on this forum will understand what I mean, but the amount of times I have thought one was the other. Agh it just annoys me.

Departed is all time favorite score and I say DIFFERENTLY check it out.

As I watch the 1976 version of King Kong, I find myself paying more attention to the score than the action. Damn you, Scott for making me more aware of such things...

Have you heard the soundtrack to Van Helsing? Very pounding, rock-inspired score, with some really good use of the (acoustic) guitar.

I second the suggestion of the Van Helsing score -- it's a good one. Silvestri's score for "Beowulf" is also one I enjoy. I will try to remember to post all my Zune's movie score selections later -- it's a long list!

Anything from the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica series.

ESPECIALLY the episode where the Galactica comes to New Caprica to rescue everyone from the Cylons. Bagpipes are cool when used correctly, IMHO.

I also hold the Van Helsing score with some high regard, but like IJacone said, i don't think you will like the film.
It's got some good bits and is worth seeing once. More of a family feel good film then a good film.

I would also though out Any Hans Zimmer score out there.
Just to list a few
Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, MW2 and Sherlock Homes. Someone is going to hate me for saying this, but even the Dark Night soundtrack is pretty good.

I am not big on this subject at all, but I do love the 300 soundtrack.
