So, I'm currently judging a film festival in my hometown of Naperville...WOOT WOOT! Anywho, I watched a handful of short films and documentaries last night, some good, many not so good. There was this one documentary about college age drinking, which was 8 minutes long, and about 4 minutes in they lost me. The film was called iDrink and they were spotlighting two African American teens away at college. One female and one male. The female was just a bimbo, lush with a tiny bit of ambition. The male however...they're interviewing this kid and he explains why he goes to clubs. Here's where they lost me:

The young black male, when asked why he drinks and goes to clubs says, "So I can $%#@ fine white bitches."
I have no problem with the young man's intent, because that's what teen boys do. I have a problem with the fact that it's an 8 minute documentary and that's the best interviewee you can come up with? How do you present that as your best possible effort?
