Doctor Who season 7 *with spoilers*

Postby Crazy Clees » Sat Sep 01, 2012 10:41 pm

Many of us love the Doctor, so why not come here and chat about him? There will be spoilers, so beware.

Asylum of the Daleks starts us off fun! I love the Daleks, as some of you may remember from previous episodes. I am happy they are back. I had a couple questions. Why are there even Dalek nanobots down on the planet if nothing is supposed to get in? Why did the Daleks need saving? The argument that the crazy Daleks can get out is a bit loose. The shop crashed at least a year ago, why had no one got out since then (that we know of).

Still loved it!

Awesome, I was a bit confused at the start, I think since the Daleks are intent on keeping their species alive they will do or create anything to keep them alive and thriving.

The second 1/2 was brilliant for sure, I loved what was going on with Amy & Rory.

How cool was Oswin, I stayed away from spoilers of the new companion but she was awesome, & totally played the Doctor in the end so that you know he's going to go back & save her [obviously hehe].

I was quite happy with this episode. Now if I can only get my mom back into the show & others in my immediate inner circle.

Nope, just us two. I liked it for what it was. Not a great episode. Had some fun moments.

What parts didn't you like? All the guest stars where great, it was like watching Harry Potter, haha, oh forgot not a fan :P

I am glad they're slowly developing a reason why the Ponds would stop being companions. The Doctor is going to have to end it to save Amy & Rorys marriage cause Amy's not going to want to stop.

Killing one of them was the theory at first. But they are getting their own spin off special. I still have a theory that Rory will die again. It has been leaked their final episode will involve weeping angels. Perhaps after Rory dies, Amy somehow uses them to go back in time, albeit a much shorter jump, to save him.

So theres still a different spin-off other than the Ponds Life on BBCA? I bet that's for us Americans cause we can't ever let go of our favorites.

Anything with weeping angels will be awesome.

I wonder if River will come back.

You know what's always bugged me and I wish theyd revisit, the doctors replicant daughter, before Tennant left.

They should forget everything Tennet (Tennent? Man, if only there were some way to look things up on the internet) was involved in.

While it's only 2 episodes in, this season's kinda disappointing so far. Both episodes have been good, but I miss the overarching story structure that the last 2 seasons had.

But, hey, dinosaurs! On a spaceship!

I agree. I think that is why I only thought this last ep was only so-so. It doest not feel like there is an arc, yet. Perhaps they will refer it back to the Daleks forgetting who Who is, but with a follow up ep as a stand alone episode, makes it feel like the first two eps are both stand alone.

Now Daleks vs Dinosaurs would be EPIC!

Agree on the story arcs, the only similarity between the two is revisiting old enemies/allies we haven't seen or heard from I'm awhile [Ponds Life had the Ood]. and now seeing as weeping angels may show up this may be a theme.

This season almost seems like it could play out as an exit for Smith too.

I've been listening to Doctor Who story podcasts by the darker projects and they mentioned he can only regenerate 12 xs, I must have missed this revelation early on, so we only have 2 more Doctors left after Smith.

Shaw how dare you forget Tennant :P

Smith said in an interview he wants to (and probably will be) the Doc til 2015. And for some reason, I think they will find a way to keep Who going. Even if after a few more Docs, and another decade probably, it goes into a long hiatus, finally coming back "reborn".

Come back when everyone forgets they went past lucky #13. :)

Ive seen snippets of people saying can a woman be the Doctor or the next Doctors going to be a female, but even as a woman, I dont think I'd watch if they ever went that route or if they made him American.

I know I take it much to seriously, I really dont want our (US) growing interest in the show effecting cultural roots.

Really, you would not like a dame being a Doctor? I could get behind that. They would prolly do a male companion then, too. He would need to be gay or a-sexual to make sure he does not get in her pants all the time, though.

I don't know anything about how Time Lords work, but it wouldn't make sense to me for the doctor to change gender. They presumably reproduce sexually, since he's into chicks and its been implied he had kids before whatever killed all the other Time Lords.

That's true, wished I'd thought of it :) Hopefully that will mean the doctor will never be a female.

I don't know if I can assume they reproduce like humans. Obviously they look like humans, but at least in the new series we have only seen a couple chick time lords (Doctor's mother, clone daughter, River who was born of two humans and no longer has time lord/tardis energy). Why wouldn't they reproduce a much different way? If time lords live for (forever?), they would have massive population issues. There might be some sort of strict ritual, or time lord fusion, or some kinky stuff with some sonic devices to create a new life. Just not a convincing argument to me as to why the Doctor cannot be a chick.

I think it would be funny if Doc was a dame and kept trying to do stuff men do more often than women.

A town called Mercy just finished and I think to myself, eh. This would have been a good episode smushed in between a longer, unrelated story arc as we have seen in the past. But the only thing it seems to do is drive a larger wedge between the girl who waited and the Doctor. I think Rory was there, too, but I am not sure.

While character points were good, most of the episode left me feeling like I had empty chambers in my six shooter. I know, poor analogy, but it is what you get on short notice.
