It's that time of year again, when the Joes ask you to dig deep for the kids, but rather than just ask for your help, they want to earn it. So Chuck and Ryan decide to tackle the topic of single item/property collecting. Some interesting discussions come up as they guys talk collections. Then for the second half of the show hear exactly what was said at the IDW panel at NYCC. It's an episode worthy of giving to the kids. Enjoy!!

Just started listening to the episode and you guys brought up toys for tots. The 501st is highly involved with them. We in Maryland alone raised around $12,000 alone last year and overall the 501st raised I believe over $1 million. I might be off on the numbers since I haven't looked in about 10 months. I'll spend nearly every weekend in November and December trooping toys for tots events.

So my point is keep an eye out for wherever you live for the events were the 501st is. Photo opportunities abound and we normally get people out in costumes that you don't see often :)

Awesome Recondo pic, I love the Joe PSAs
I'm surprised you guys hated the Orko comic. At first I didn't I thought it was weird but then I got the idea that it was supposed to be its own fun little thing. Now I didn think it was funny as some other podcasters thought it was but it fun

Guys listening to your show and the topic of collecting has been on my mind recently.

I have been thinking about my collection now that I am done moving(for now). I have decided to pair down my comic collecting to Superman and Super Family titles. Property books are now down to just G.I. Joe (sorry Star Wars). I have caught the limited edition poster and Sideshow collectibles bug and they are not cheap. For toys I have a large Expedit shelf from Ikea. This will house my toy collection(including future buys) and anything that does not fit will have to go. I have to say I have not lost my desire to collect but the feeling of got to collect the full line is gone. One thing I have done to slim down my toy collecting is picking what I think embodies the line the best. One example is M.A.S.K I have the Rhino and Thunderhawk I don't need anything else to me they are the best of the line.

Great topic and episode as always.

I'm a huge fan of Katie cook but I'm not getting that comic. Even meet her twice now. If you ever get the chance to say hi, do it :)

If I only collected one line, it would be Transformers. To further narrow - G1 only. To further narrow-masterpiece only.

I said I was tempted to pick up the first issue to see what the buzz was about. I didn't say I was buying it. Don't try to push your Brony love on me.

Chris, that definitely would be a cool line to focus on.

I am one of those that's new to toy collecting. After a short period of trying a few things out I'm pretty settled into 6" scale superhero figures. So far mostly Mattel DC stuff though I may expand into a some Marvel Legends.
