I just read Rucka's 16 issue run of The Punisher that had just ended over the Holidays. One of the best comics that I have read in a long time.

Also, thanks to listening to Chuck on the podcasts and also Daredevil being in The Punisher comic, I just started reading Waid's Daredevil comic. It is pretty cool that the local library is getting these in trades. I like what I have read so far.

Lastly, I cannot wait to finally read an ongoing series of Star Wars that just started today. I just could not get into the many individual arcs that they have been doing lately, regardless of how good they were. I finally feel as if I have a jumping on point. In my opinion, I feel that Star Wars is better told with something happening closer to the movie era (Battle of Yavin). The Expanded universe of the with the older Han and Luke are cool too. I loved the Old Republic games, but the comics still did not feel like Star Wars to me as it happened way in the past.

I stopped at 2 of my local comic shops today, and both were sold out of Star Wars #1. Not sure how many they ordered, but they said they sold out fast. Hoping that is a good sign. Glad I ordered my copy through DCBS. So I know I will have it to read soon.

I was going to pick up the issue to read, and then when my order came in I was going to throw that one into a prize package, but guess that won't happen now. I'm glad it's selling well....and I hope it's not because stores didn't order many of them.

Last night I received my Saga #1 first print in the mail, and I was very excited to start the journey through this tale that's been getting such high praise.

I read through the first issue and really enjoyed it. I loved the perspect of the narrator being the child that was born. It's definitely a mature reading level comic. Could have done without the TV head people having sex. They are just weird characters. I assume they are symbolic for something, but for me on the surface, they are just odd. I like teh two species at war and the bounty hunter with his lie sniffing dog creature (I have a feeling he might become my favorite character to follow in the series).

I have issues #2-7 at home and I have #8 coming in my next DCBS order. Looking forward to see how this plays out.

Been reading the Secret History trades the past few months. Utterly love them. I'm a stickler for any medium that uses real life history and uses it.to fit the narrative and when real life events are referenced or even integral to the srory but is through the actions of the characters.

I just read Superior Spider-Man #1. I like this first issue. I'm glad that they're not having Octavious trying to be the person that Peter was. He has his own personality and his own manner in doing things and with dealing with people. And I think that, and seeing the conflicts that can arise from this is whats going to make this story interesting.

OK, so I have been reading "Punisher, War Zone" and "Daredevil, End of Days" and loving them. Both these mini-series are great reads. If anyone is looking for a cool Punisher story that centers around the Avengers trying to bring in the Punisher this is for you. Or if you are looking for a Daredevil story that is on par with Waid's DD this is it. It centers around the end of Matt Murdock's life and a look back at what happened.
I could not reccomend these title more, they are very enjoyable so far. DD I have read 4 of the 8 issues and Punisher I have read 3 of the 5 or 6 issues. These are currently on-going stories from the good people at Marvel Comics. Do yourself a favor and pick them up, you won't be sorry. ;)

I stopped by my 4th option, last chance, last resort comic shop and they still had Star Wars #1. Great issue. Taking place shortly after the destruction of the first Death Star they set up the Rebel Alliance being on the run with a tee'd off Empire hot on their heels. And the art in excellent. Seeing a high quality Star Wars book like this set in the time of the classic trilogy, which I still prefer over others, has me excited for Star Wars comics again.

My LCS was sold out of Star Wars #1. Might wind up buying the digital version.

It looks like they're taking a page from Batman's book. Looks like J.J. wants to use Spider-Man to his advantage.

RAH #186: I'm enjoying the Destro/Darklon storyline these days, and I love the use of so many original Joes (ZAP for crying out loud!). The new brain wave scanner is good for a few laughs, too. Art from Ron Wagner with Juan Castro inking, they keep the feel Shannon's set up going well.

Star Wars #1: I wasn't really sure what to expect, other than it takes place right after "Star Wars" before "Empire." I thought it was good and has a lot of promise. Leia takes center stage, and I like the conflict about her not really being "one of them" when it comes to the Rebel Alliance. Really like the art, D'Anda doesn't draw the characters exactly like the actors, however certainly you can tell who's who. I especially like the way he draws Leia and Luke, Jacob remarked that he made Chewie's face look much more human. If you're on the fence, pick up a second printing of this and give it a shot.

The art looks good.I can accept "not quite like the actor" art if it is good art, if that makes sense
