i agree with paul. this book is top shelf.
as for editor's notes. i'm So glad spider-man's the only place i have to deal with them. it's like Pop Up Video for comics. takes you right out of the story. it's like going to the theatre with a friend to watch "New to You 2" and your buddy keeps explaining shit from the first movie you didn't see. just let me read the comic. if i think raven's a new character for an issue, it doesn't matter. what's important is, there's this shape-shifting girl suggesting scott's only option is suicide, but she doesn't Seem to be 100% trustworthy. that's it. if this was your first comic - Ever - it would still be great. it's only made Greater being a longtime reader and knowing the extent of Scott and Jean's relationship, with the wedding and all, and knowing that kitty is currently dating iceman. if you weren't reading WatXM you wouldn't be lost because they don't mention it! that's what's SO SO great about Not mentioning garbage from other storylines... like how distracting would it be if storm was talking about making moves on wolverine (which she hasn't done yet cause she still has full hair, so the Date issue of WatXM hasn't happened yet)
anyway... what MIGHT be acceptable is if instead of editor's notes, they use more of those AR panels, like they did in Superior Spider-Man #3 (and all through AvX) it's still an ugly little square taking away from a nice looking page, but at least it's an ignorable logo and not a "Raven Darkholme aka Mystique has been a thorn in the side of the x-men since the 1980's! -Editor" or a "Scott and Jean were married in X-Men v2 #30 twenty years ago! TWENTY! gosh i feel old! -Editor"
