Those of you still playing WoW, how are your guild experiences? I had a stretch of time a few years back when I was a part of a guild in which I knew people but haven't had that experience for a long time and kind of miss it.

My WoW guild experience has varied wildly over the years. My main is an alliance in a guild I've been part of since Vanilla days. I stopped raiding for the most part halfway through BC and while the guild is primarily a raiding guild and for a long time was in the top 10 on the server (no idea what they are these days) I've just been in it for so long I don't want to leave. There's almost no one left from when I joined, like 2 other people. The guild has changed dramatically and not really for the better. The arrogance level of a lot of the raiders is really high and if your not part of the "it" crowd you tend to get ignored. The raiders they have these days are tremendously good so they tend to be able to recruit good players, which also tends to mean arrogant and little tolerance for the average just ok player if they're running in a PUG or what have you. I'm seen more as the old man of the guild now and if they want to know the history of things pre LK I tend to be the historian now so at least I'm not totally ignored.

My horde toon however has been in like 20 guilds. I hardly play him so it's not really surprising. Just sort of sucks with the guild leveling system when I finally get to exhalted with the guild only to get booted because I didn't log on for 2 weeks :(

Last week I bought a 3DS XL. It's the first handheld I've had since the original Game Boy! I'm loving it.

Sorry, this is a venting session and I need to get my gamer angst out.

February through April is my busy time with work and school activities for the kids, so I cancel my sub to WoW and re-sub in May, but while I'm away I always keep in touch with my guild master.

I don't have all of the details yet, I have only been away for about two and half weeks and found out that my GM and the two co-founding officers dumped the guild and transfered to another server because of some kind of child like guild drama. This is a woman that has been playing since launch, founded the guild when guilds were introduced to the game, and a guild that she has built up a really good reputation for. I'm just really confused why she would dump it and leave somebody else in charge.

When I last logged in a few weeks back, everything was fine, the raid team was steadily progessing, everybody was being as helpful, friendly and supportive as always then all of the sudden this happens. All that she has told me is that the majority of the guildies have developed overly selfish bad attitudes and that she just got sick of it and left. Problem is, that can mean any number of things.

I'm just frustrated as hell now, because when I re-sub, I have no idea what to expect. I have all of my main toons on the same server and they are all in that guild except for my bank alt. Being the casual player that I am, if it turns out the guild is dead or full of jerks, I dread the thought of jumping guilds and having to grind all that rep again, especially with a guild that isn't at max level cause those perks are nice. Whoever was left in charge may have booted my toons already. Not much I can do about it until I re-sub in May.

It just stinks, I love plundering Horde villages with my draenai shaman but now because of this I'm losing the desire to even continue with WoW.

I'm totally there with ya man. The guild my main has been in for years has gone through so many changes I barely know anyone in it anymore. Almost everyone I knew doesn't play much or moved on if at all. My issue is that I've just been in it to long and don't want to start over again. I went from being important to now I'm basically an unknown outside of being that guy who's been in the guild longer then nearly everyone.

The guild drama sometimes is so insanely stupid. Minor things that mean nothing blow up into huge deals and shatter things a lot. People fighting over power or popularity. It's so damn childish. I don't know the circumstances in your case but when you come back, I'd say give it a chance. What's the worst that happen? You find a new guild and maybe make some new friends. :)

I re-subbed today only because I forgot they started demoting gm's if they are inactive for over 90 days and I have a personal guild bank that I let others use and I would have been gone over the 90 days.

I talked to a few people on both sides and I think I'll be jumping ship as well. Other than the guy that took over the guild, there was nobody talking to each other unless they needed or wanted something and nobody was responding back with an offer of help. One guy started ganking gold and goods from the bank and bailed before the new gm got it locked out. No hello's as people logged in, no congrats when acheivements were earned,...nothing.

So incredibly pumped, Gears of War: Judgement comes out in approximately 6 hours! This is one of my favorite franchises if not my favorite (Gears and Metal Gear go back an forth constantly for the top spot with me). I gotten addicted to the multiplayer but cussing people out online isn't the main reason I play. The aspect that I really enjoy is that Epic Games and has done a great job of making this franchise a co-operative experience. Gears has been the ultimate "friend franchise" for me that has kept me and my best friend connected throughout his various moves among the states. Sorry for the sap but I cant wait to get my paws on this game soon :D
