Justice League #17
Justice League of America #1
Avengers # 6
Thor : God of Thunder # 5
TMNT #19
GI Joe # 1
Wonder Woman #17
Vibe #1

Runner up Pick of the Week

GI Joe #1
This was good jump on issue. Within the first five pages you are introduce to the team and the status quo for the book before thrown into the current mission.

TMNT #19
I loved the cover on this issue with the turtles and the Neutinos together. The turtles get right into the war between Krang and the Neutinos in this issue. It appears Karai does something that will lead to Krang taking vengence against the Shredder down the line.

Pick of the Week

Thor # 5
Gorr is without question one of the best villains coming from the big two right now. Gorr has become an important character as Thor himself to this title. I have no clue how Jason Aaron is going to proceed once he moves on from the Gorr Arc. I am looking forward to seeing he origin of Gorr in issue #6.

Justice League #17
The conclusion of The Throne of Atlantis was great. Besides ending the conflict with the Atlantians it set up a new direction for the Justice League and Aquaman and backdoor in Justice League of America.

I really loved Justice League of America #1. You are introduced to the team members all in one issue (a complaint some people had about Justice League #1). You get a ton of set ups for various subplots. Loved the connection to Justice League with the whole Society of Super Villains being mentioned again with the same scene extended from Justice League. Loved the Hawkman stuff where he seems not right in the head. The subplot with Stargirl is very interesting, always liked that character. Just a great start for a series in my opinion.

I just read Guardians of the Galaxy #0.1 today during my lunch break. Of all the Marvel Now books, I was looking forward to this one the most, and it did not disappoint.

I got hooked on Marvel Cosmic stuff after the whole Annihilation stories caught my eye to give it a try. I have been with the Marvel Cosmic stuff since the very beginning of those stories.

McNiven's art was beautiful. He's one of those artists that I wish could draw all of the comics that I read. The story was solid with introducing the origin of Peter Quill. The only disappointment was that several of the pages in the issue were just reprints of the short story that was in the Marvel Point One issue, but it didn't take away from enjoying the story. We got more depth to what led up to those moments.

At the end we see Peter as Starlord with the Guardians of the Galaxy team as Peter speaks to Tony Stark. Not sure how I feel about Iron Man being part of the team, but it does make some sense as to why they are there to have him involved. Personally I hope that Iron Man's status with the team is short lived, and I hope we get to see characters like Bug, Martyr, Adam Warlock, etc. again.

I also think this was a good intro issue for anyone that didn't read the recent Guardians of the Galaxy comic series before (I gave it to Chuck to read as a test of that theory, but I doubt he will like it because he has it in his mind that he won't like it....no matter how much i have tried to convince him that with his love of Star Wars, he should like this type of book). You at least get a great intro to Peter Quill. Hopefully #1 will do a good job of introducing new readers to the rest of the team.

GI Joe #1: It's a mixed bag story and art wise. Definitely didn't pull me in as I'd hoped for. Look forward to seeing what others out here think of it, other boards definitely seem to be split over the new direction. I'll give it the first arc and make a decision.

Star Wars #2: Yes, the black X-Wings are very cool. I'm enjoying reading the characters I love the most from the SW universe.

Rocketeer Hollywood Horror #1: My pick of the week! Roger Langridge writing and J. Bone drawing Rocketeer, it's a fun read and looks great. IDW continues to impress me with how they handle this character.

I read Age of Ultron #1 the other day and WOW. I loved this first issue. First of all, Brian Hitch's art is just incredible. I wish he was doing the whole story for the series. Loved the stuff with Hawkeye gong after Spider-Man, and for some sick reason I love Spider-Man's quips even more when he's saying them after being beat to hell....maybe because I'm usually trying to be funny when I'm hurt, so I can relate. Loved this whole world with the heroes in hiding. Makes me very interested in what happened to lead to this. Great cliffhanger ending with Cap. I give this first issue the highest rating I can for an event book's first issue.

GI Joe RAH #188: The Black Major and Dr. Burkhart???? Hama's pulling out all the stops. The coloring on this issue seemed really dark, and there's at least one word bubble attributed to the wrong person...you'll know it when you read it.

Star Wars #3: So the black X Wings are "Grey Squadron?" I'm really, really enjoying this book, if only for seeing the characters I grew up watching being the focus of a Star Wars book.

The Black Beetle #1 and 2: Francesco Francavilla has created a great pulp character. Fun story, the art is tremendous, the only thing I find odd is how many pages he signs. If you like The Shadow, Green Hornet, or pulp in general, you should check this book out.

Buddy Cops one shot: PICK OF THE WEEK. An intergalactic space cop that drinks too much and gets demoted to the NYPD whose partner is a by the book robot from the 70s. They don't like each other. It's absolutely hilarious. Nate Cosby is the writer (he did Cowboy for the Archaia FCBD book last year) and Evan "Doc" Shaner is on art duties. I love Shaner's stuff and couldn't pass this up. Fun, fun stuff.

Stupid Ryan...after hearing the Fred Van Lendt episode, I decided to check out Archer & Armstrong. Then, I decided to check out Bloodshot and X-O Manowar just to give them a try. I am afraid to check out Harbinger and Shadowman. My wallet hates me.

I am hooked! These are some of the best comics out there right now! Many are missing out. I still yet have to read Harninger and Shadowman.

For those that have read the current Valiant, what are your favorite of the five comics out right now?

I love the following in order (I still have to read Harbinger and Shadowman):

1. Archer & Armstrong
2. X-O Manowar
3. Bloodshot

Ummmmm...you're welcome?

I just received my Archer & Armstrong trade today. Looking forward to reading it. I haven't tried much of the others. I tried the first issue of X-O, and liked it. Going to get he trades for that also. I read the background for Harbinger, so looking forward to reading that. I'll be sticking to trades with Valiant, but I have liked what I have read so far.

I read the first two issues of Age of Ultron and enjoyed them; I will defiantly get the trade.

I know that the Ammo Dump is primarily about comics but I watched 10 episodes of the Arrow TV series this past weekend (had a lot of time on my hands). I'm now completely current with the show. I admit I don't know everything about Oliver Queen but I am really enjoying this series. I can't believe that they are getting away with this much violence on the "lovey dovey" CW network but I'm totally down!
