G.i. Joe cobra civil war compendium

Postby truedeadman » Sun Mar 17, 2013 10:27 am

Does anyone know what this book collects? I can't seem to find a list. I'd like to be able to read all of civil war in order. I missed some issues and hoped to read it all straight through.

I couldn't find anything that stated the specific issues in this collection, but I saw something that stated it contained 24 issues, which seemed like a lot to me, but when you look up the arc itself there are actually 25 issues in it. So it might be even more in there. The issues in the story arc are:

G.I. Joe: Cobra Civil War #0
G.I. Joe #1 thru 8 (I believe this was volume 2 of G.I. Joe)
Snake-Eyes #1 thru 8
Cobra #1 thru 8

Is there any word of this coming out in hardcover? I really want to get this collection, but I'm holding out for a hardcover.

I have triple dipped a couple times before. Once with Batman Hush. I have the issues. I also have the Absolute Edition. And I have the Unwrapped book of it that tells the story, but just shows Jim Lee's pencils. I also triple dipped on the Drift mini series. I have the issues, the IDW Collection, and the hardcover Drift collection.

I will probably be triple dipped on the Chuckles story once they reach that in the IDW Collection because I already have the issues and the deluxe hardcover collection of the story. I just love those IDW hardcovers.

I'm happy to hear they are re-releasing the Spider-Man Omnibus. I definitely want to get that when it comes back out. I have the 2 X-Men ones already. What I need them to re-release for the X-Men is the Uncanny X-Men Volume 1, which started with Giant Size X-Men issue and has the start of the Claremont run.

Oh, that is awesome. I will probably be all over those. Usually through DCBS the discount is 40-50% off, so I could potentially get both for the cover price of one. So cool. Thanks for the info. I held off on trying to get the Uncanny X-Men volume for exactly what you said. It was always too expensive on the secondary market. I also hope this means that they might continue with a second volume later.

I triple dipped on Batman Hush as well.

I find most of my double dipping is from buying digital copies as they come out, then the arcs I really like I get hardcovers or trades of. This allows me to read the books as they come out, and save room around the studio by only getting paper copies of what I really want. So I easily double dip on just about everything In my top 10-20 titles.

The only time I'll hold off on trade waiting is for Marvel who keep their digital prices at $3.99 regardless of how long it's been out. To me that's ridiculous. Even at comic shops or conventions a couple months after a book is released that price goes down unless its a landmark issue. DC and Image have the best pricing model for that, IMO.

I agree that the IDW hardcovers are phenomenal to own. I've never had a complete collection of the transformers books, I just have random trades here and there. I might go the HC route to get the complete set. I liked seeing my work in the oversized format as well. It does make a difference, like the absolute editions at DC.
