Just read Star Wars #3 by Brian Wood. As someone that is trying to get seriously back into Star Wars this series is perfect; It has a lot of the characters that I enjoy from the Rebellion Era as the book calls it. I also love how Dark Horse is adding some additionally things into the continuity (I love that The Emperor is pissed at Vader etc). This is one of the few series that I read and then I want to re-read it again.

I agree. I am really enjoying the series, and we'll be talking about the first 2 if not 3 issues in the next recording we do (we're supposed to finally get together to record this week. There have been things that have caused delays).

Just started reading my Spider-Man: Dying Wish HC (this contains issues #698-700). I really liked this story and it got me back on reading Spider-Man monthly in issues. I know that there's a lot of controversy about what ultimately happens to Peter but I enjoyed the ride nonetheless (you know status quo will eventually return). I think that it's stupid that comic fans complain about change, change, change and when we finally get it for once they send the writer death threats...makes no sense to me.

I'm sure you guys have seen this but if not...

Neil Gaiman will be co-writing Guardians of the Galaxy with Bendis starting with #5. He is also bringing the character Angela into the Marvel U.

I'm quite alright this.

I have not read that yet. I'm all for Gaiman coming on board for this series. Angela? I looked her up to refresh my memory, she was a Spawn character, so I was remembering her right. I can see her fitting in for sure with this group. I assume she'll have a bit of a different origin or history. If McNiven continues to draw the book, then she'll be GORGEOUS, and it might be enough to get Chuck on board with this title.

I haven't picked up GotG, anybody got an idea how much of a staple Iron Man is going to be? I'm kind of sick of seeing Stark's face so much. I've never liked how he's been pushed as one of the Big 3 of Marvel, he's not, never has been. Big 3 of one team's roster, yes, but for the whole of the Marvel U, not so much. I understand why he is in it with the movie side of it all, but I have no interest in reading GotG if Tony is going to be in it a lot.

I don't know if he'll be in it a lot. He is barely in issue 0.1 at all. And it's somewhat explained why he is part of the group that makes sense. My guess is that he'll be around for the first arc and then maybe disappear or moved to a small cameo/advisor role.

So I checked out the following trades at the "Library Con" today:

Wolverine and the X-Men volume 1
Hulk Gray
Saga volume 1
Batman: Court of Owls volume 1
Batman The Brave and the Bold (based on the TV show)

I was amazed at the number of new trades they've got in their collection. Will give some thoughts as I read them...

Those are all great picks. I especially love the Batman and Saga stories, but Wolverine & the X-Men is no slouch either.

I just read Detective Comics, Batgirl, Batman and Robin, and Batman #18s. I've been way behind on everything and these are the first comics that I've bought in a couple of months. These Requiem issues were really good. I especially like the silent Batman and Robin issue. The emotions and memories are there even if nothing is said. The Batgirl issue is creepy and weird. What is the story with James Gordon Jr.? Detective has a good story with the Emperor Penguin character basically taking over Penguin's identity and taking absolutely everything from him. And then Cobblepot resorts to some old tricks which is a set-up that gets him locked up while Emperor Penguin takes over the roost. All good stuff.

I loved that Batman & Robin issue. A great silent issue.

In regards to James Gordon Jr., the easiest way to describe it is that he's a freakin' psychopath. There is a great story involving him pre-new DCU that was done by Scott Snyder from Detective Comics. I think it's call Black Mirror. It's a great creepy story. You find out just how messed up Jr. is and how even his family is scared of him. This story also remains in continuity with what is going on with him now. It seems that he knows his sister is Batgirl and he will probably be her biggest arch enemy, which would make for some great stories. He is also dating his sister's roommate...on purpose....because he's a smart calculating psycho.

I mentioned I picked up several trades a couple weeks ago at the library. Finished up the first "Wolverine and the X-Men" trade, it includes issues 1-4. It wasn't the best book to read without any background, I hadn't read X-Men/X-Factor/X-anything in 20 years. Is Professor X out of the wheelchair? I was confused by the bald guy talking to Logan early on. I also don't get 12 year olds running the Hellfire Club. Interesting art, not a book I would keep reading, though.
