I'm very sad to report that the absolute best LCS in southeastern Wisconsin has closed due to a jackass who enjoys 'fire bombing' the comics stores in my city.
Heroes and Dreams (and especially the owner, Paul Kloiber) opened the door for me to share my love of this hobby with my son by giving us a friendly shop, rides to conventions and just being all around nice people. It didn't take them long to warm up to us and strike up friendship. Something that I hear is lacking in the LCS business. Even when i didn't have anything in the pull box, it would be easy to spend at least an hour in there shooting the shit. Paul and his family were extremely nice to my son, and helped him come out of his shell. And some prick takes his (Paul's) life's work and flushed it all away.
So please, if you have a free moment-send some love and/or positive thoughts his way. He deserves better than this.

I work for the Salvation Army Thrift Stores in Australia and someone burned down one of our stores earlier this year, so I can sympathise completely. Here's hoping they can find the idiot responsible.

Guys! Why don't we raise a little money as a donation to his family? Even if we all pull just a little money, a little turns into a lot when all of us pitch in and we might can help give them a little relief. Even if it's just for a few meals or to cover a bill or two, that's one less thing to worry about. We maybe can make a little TTF campaign and advertise it for a month or something on all of our shows.

Last time i checked, no. I have two comic shops in my city and whoever's trying doing this shit tried to burn them both down. This was their third attempt-and the only one to succeed.

I'm meeting with Paul (the former owner) this weekend sometime. I'll try to get the low-down on insurance and what not.

To make matters worse, the saddest part isn't that his store got fucked up, but he's completely lost any desire to go forward, relocate and reopen. He (much like myself) can't even grasp why anyone would want to do this. It's not like he was a dick. He's not rude, vulgar or geek-elitist. He had a group called C.R.A.S.H. (C.hildren R.eading A.bout S.uper H.eroes) and threw awesome community get togethers for store anniversaries and Free Comic Book Day.

I'm at a loss for words, and if you knew me, you'd know that's not an easy thing to happen.
