Marla Bea Benefit A Comic Art Auction

Postby Paul McCall » Tue Oct 12, 2010 3:53 pm

Four years ago my Mother passed away from breast cancer. Breast cancer also took some of her sisters. The Marla Bea Benefit is an annual art auction held on ebay where the profits from the art sales go to breast cancer research. This year I've donated a Power Girl drawing and I'll be including a first issue of my comic League of Analogues along with the drawing. The auction starts today, Tuesday October 12th at 4 PM CST. This is from their website;

According to http://www.breastcancer.org, the breast cancer incidence in the United States is 1 in 8. In my immediate family, the rate is 2 in 3.

In December 2008, Marla, my oldest sister, was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer. Then in February 2009, Beatrice, my mother, was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer. I decided that this would be a good chance to support breast cancer research by organizing a fund-raiser.

ALL of the proceeds from this auction will benefit the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Please click on their icon below to visit their Web site for further information about the center.
The auction items will begin to appear on eBay at 4pm CST.
They will appear in the order that they are listed on the web-site. A new sketch will appear approximately every 5 minutes.
All items start at $9.99.
• This auction is taking place in October because October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
• The comic art auction will start on October 12, 2010.
• The auction will take place on eBay and will last for 7 days.
• The sketches will be sold under the seller name "marlabeabenefit." I will provide a link on the Web site when the auction starts.
• All items will start at the same price. No reserves or buy it now pricing. All auctions will be sold in the auction format.
• Shipping and handling charges will be based on the size of the sketches. For further information, please read the entire eBay listing for the sketches when they are launched on October 12.

This is my piece in the auction.
