According to http://www.breastcancer.org, the breast cancer incidence in the United States is 1 in 8. In my immediate family, the rate is 2 in 3. In December 2008, Marla, my oldest sister, was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer. Then in February 2009, Beatrice, my mother, was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer. I decided that this would be a good chance to support breast cancer research by organizing a fund-raiser. ALL of the proceeds from this auction will benefit the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
